On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the Gallus Theater in Frankfurt am Main will host a single performance of the play “Women in the Dark” (Frauen im Dunkeln).
Playwrights Iryna Serebriakova und Masha Denisova documented candid conversations among seventeen female friends from Kyiv during the winter blackout of 2022–23. The women live without electricity, internet, or heat, yet their conversations are filled with dark humor, hope for spring’s swift arrival, and female friendship.
Actresses Tanya Kargaeva, Edda Lina Janz and Mariia Riaboshapka speak German, Ukrainian, and English, dance with a male skeleton, and invite the boldest audience members onto the stage. The performance is accompanied by live music from violinist Niki Yaghmaee.
After the performance, the audience is invited to join Libereco in writing letters and postcards to Ukrainians held in Russian prisons and occupied territories.
An event within the framework of Tage des Exils Frankfurt (Days of Exile Frankfurt).
Tickets: 16, 12, 8 Euro
