The human rights situation in Belarus is catastrophic.
Critical voices, activists, and human rights defenders are being silenced, imprisoned, and persecuted. According to the human rights centre Viasna, 839 people are currently unjustly imprisoned in Belarus for political reasons.
Representatives of the human rights organisations Amnesty International and Libereco, together with the Stiftung friedliche Revolution, invite you to an evening dedicated to political prisoners in Belarus.
Our guest speaker will be translator and former political prisoner Siarhei Paulavitski. After his speech, we will hold a panel discussion and invite participants to join the conversation. Afterwards, we will write letters to political prisoners in Belarus. All materials and addresses will be provided, and letters can be translated if needed.
During the event, visitors will also be able to see a poster exhibition by artist Xisha Angelova, provided by the organisation 100xsolidaritaet.
Everyone is welcome — regardless of language skills — to join us in creating a warm and solidaristic atmosphere and sending a sign of hope and support.
Admission is free. The event will be held in German.
