Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Belarusian human rights defender Ales Bialiatski delivers a Freedom Lecture based on his experience of activism, imprisonment and forced labour under the Lukashenko regime.
The programme continues with philosopher Olga Shparaga on feminist solidarity, care and artistic resistance, followed by an audiovisual performance inspired by The Zekamerone — essays secretly written in prison by Belarusian lawyer and writer Maxim Znak.
The evening provides the political, personal and artistic context for Make Noise, the large-scale participatory performance taking place at NDSM on 19 September.
Tickets are available on the De Balie website.
