As part of the Ukrainian Film Festival in Berlin, we are screening CRIMEA. ISOLATION, a two-part documentary produced by Cemaat Production.
Through personal stories, the film shows what life under occupation in Crimea looks like and how people experience repression, restrictions on freedom of expression and isolation.
The first part focuses on journalist and First Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, Nariman Dzhelyal, and his family. The second part tells the stories of journalists and educators in Crimea who have faced persecution because of their work and public views.
After the screening, we will continue the conversation with a panel discussion on the current situation in Crimea. Ira Ganzhorn, Humanitarian Aid Officer at LIBERECO, will also take part in the discussion.
After the panel discussion, you will have the opportunity to write letters to people from Crimea who are being unlawfully detained. We will provide instructions and all the necessary materials.
