Windows for Ukraine (Phase III)

Due to Russia’s ongoing war of aggression in Ukraine, the windows of thousands of residential and administrative buildings have been destroyed. Many windows can only be repaired provisionally with plastic sheeting and boards. However, this measure only provides limited protection against cold, wind, and moisture. In Switzerland, on the other hand, more than 20 million square meters of intact windows are disposed of every year. Many of these windows are still in very good condition and could be reused.

We support people who continue to live in their homes despite war damage. Installing new windows not only protects particularly vulnerable households from the effects of weather, but also increases energy efficiency. The renovation of public buildings also restores essential access to health and education. By reusing windows, Libereco promotes environmental sustainability as part of humanitarian reconstruction efforts.

Our partner RE-WIN coordinates the collection of intact windows throughout Switzerland. Together, we deliver the windows to our project partner AoS in Ukraine, where they are installed in private homes and public buildings. Our focus is always on vulnerable people who, for example, are unable to install the equipment themselves due to advanced age and are also dependent on functioning community centers. Since the start of the project, we have delivered a total of 1,600 windows in ten shipments.
