Help the Helpers (Phase III)

Our psychosocial support programme provides individual psychosocial support and empowers medical professionals, civil society workers and therapists to effectively support traumatised people.

SITUATION

SITUATION

Russia’s ongoing war of aggression in Ukraine has triggered a severe humanitarian and psychosocial crisis. According to estimates, around 10 million people in Ukraine are at increased risk of mental illness. There is a growing need for body-oriented and trauma-sensitive approaches. However, there are only a limited number of trained professionals in Ukraine who can offer this kind of help.

OUR GOAL

OUR GOAL

The project addresses this shortcoming by strengthening the trauma-informed skills of all professionals and volunteers, thereby maintaining civilian crisis response capabilities. In addition to individual support, community-based approaches such as peer support and therapeutic retreats are also crucial for promoting resilience and sustainable capacity to act. These measures improve the quality of trauma treatment provided by civilian aid workers and ensure the sustainability of humanitarian aid through a more resilient workforce.

HOW WE HELP

HOW WE HELP

In collaboration with its local partner, SE Ukraine, LIBERECO provides training opportunities, both online and offline, for medical staff and other professionals working with vulnerable groups affected by war in areas severely impacted by hostilities. The project also promotes advanced certification to empower 80 professionals to act as multipliers in trauma treatment. It also offers individual psychosocial support to strengthen the resilience of healthcare professionals and help them process their own traumatic experiences.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Thanks to your donation, we can continue supporting traumatized individuals in Ukraine. Thank you very much for your donation!
